Making history

Making History was first staged at the Samuel Beckett centre in Dublin in 2005. Friel's neglected masterpiece charts the rise and fall of Hugh O'Neill.

By tracing the footsteps of Red Hugh across Ireland and Europe in 2006, Ouroboros' production brought to life the events surrounding the Flight of the Earls in 1607. The tour of Making History was a huge undertaking by Ouroboros with the kind assistance of the OPW, a working relationship that was rekindled for their 2008 tour of Translations.
